375-mile clue

Solution: Schroon Lake, NY (Adirondack Marathon)

Note: We also see, on the bibs 87 (a reference to I-87 and 74, the road that runs east past Eagle Lake and to the Ti Ferry.

Apparently, this is the final online clue. The “final” clue is essentially the physical sign, already found.

25-mile radius? No.

Also, after the 375-mile clue is solved, we see:

Correction by Dodge on Twitter: When you solve the 5th clue vid it gets you within 375 miles of the Journey, not 25 as was written. More to come. Stay tuned.

Physical Clue, across Ti Ferry in VT

As reported earlier (bejones, 2:24pm), across the Ti Ferry into VT on 74, just before turning south on 73, a sign that reads:

This isnt the end
Its only the beginning
We cant wait to share
Where we went next
the journey is within 350 miles from here

400-mile clue

Solution: Friends Lake, Chestertown, NY

425-mile clue

Solution: Lake George, NY (Queen of  American Lakes)

Notes: The Dodge Journey is north bound (and the bikes are there, just blurred because of the Journey’s speed)

Could this be a reference to Paradox, NY? Paradox Lake? Conflicting directions as a Paradox? Pair of Docks?

  1. Any more thoughts on where it could be? My husband searched the road from the video and couldn’t find anything. He is now a few miles away at the location my brother first said walking around (he said he got out because the was a volvo from VA blocking the road to the back of a barn). He walked and found nothing, except lots of barking dogs! Help him find it and I’ll let you take it for a spin! 🙂

  2. I am now thinking there might be as many as 15 MORE radius clues “in the can” and ready to be released.

If they stick to the minus 25 miles each time (or less), which makes sense because they will not go back to 50 at this point, they’ll need appx. 15 more to get you down to the 5 mile mark.

I would think they’ll need to have at least the 25 mile radius clue ready to present at some point if the search goes on longer than they expect. They’ll need to hone people in to bring it to conclusion at some point in the game. Same is true for the 5 mile clue (or, perhaps they’ll leave this one sitting out at 10).

The point is, this could go on well into tonight and then, for safety reasons, they’ll probably not give out the remainder of the radius clues until Sunday morning.

That’s how I would do it, anyway. A contingency master plan that covers a potential two-day “mega-hunt”. It’s setting up this way.

  3. What if it is a 500 mile round trip on one tank of gas and the family heads back home and it is in a barn outside Albany… they did the trip for a day on a single tank of gas and made it back to grama’s farm at the end of the day outside Albany… Or something along those lines

  4. Don’t rule this out:

Heading south at TK Bridge might indicate that the family is heading back home to Albany after their day/weekend trip is over.

I can see the side trip to Paradox Lake making sense but there is no logical reason for the vehicle to be headed south over that bridge unless they are making their way home.

Can’t explain why they leave from a row of townhouses and it ends up in a barn in relation to this theory, but that’s what we have Steven for. To explain the inexplicable. 🙂

    • Steve what do you think of our theory? I think a barn so no one can spot it from the air or a helicopter, and like I said maybe they went to gramma’s house at end of the day which is a horse ranch outside Albany???

      • I agree about the barn. With the west search, someone saw enough to know, just about, where it was … (after about 16 hours a detective work) But, so far the radius searches have just been as the crow flies, moving along or progressing along a know route (never extending beyond 20 miles). We do suspect they’re throwing more twists at us, the different directions, Paradox(es), etc. (And I think the Albany southbound shot could be a video edit error, like Sayre OK) Can’t rule anything out but I’d still have to go with somewhere with 20 or so miles of either Ticonderoga and Mt Independence. If they double-backed, that would be especially evil (even thought about them looping towards Green Mountain Nat forest area to be somewhat consistent with the last tow) … but for either of those southbound scenarios, a lot of people wouldn’t be very happy.

    • Not sure if that is right. I went to school at UVM. I don’t think they would put this on campus/near campus. Especially since Burlington is so crazy as is. Just my 2 cents. 🙂

  5. Lake George to the Ticonderoga ferry is closer to 50 miles…
wonder if we’ll get a Sabbath Day Point clue next…. Ticonderoga being clue 5… not 4…?

  6. You beat me to it, Nick.

Must have been typing while you were doing the same. Great minds ……

Probably a two-day family trip though, with all the side routes, covering 500 miles. Sleep over in southern VT (Green Mountain area) and then back home on Sunday afternoon.

This fits with my earlier conjecture that the clues will “drag out” over a two-day period.

    • I agree, did you see my post that they are probably in the works right now for making the 100 mi and 75 mi ect commercials as we speak, and maybe they will be on way back home the long way back through Vermont????

  7. Alright, So we passed the intersection for 73 in VT right past the ferry off point. There was a sign on the side of the road from Dodge that said,
    “This isnt the End
    Its only the beginning
    We cant wait to share
    Where we went next
the journey is within 350 miles from here”

  8. I’m using gpsvisualizer.com to draw concentric circles around each waypoint and I have to say, we still have all of New England within range. White Mountain still looks good to me.

  9. 500 mile round trip might even mean a journey into New Hampshire for the night before returning to Albany.

You’d have to go that far east, really, to tally 500 miles total.

Or, they cross back over into NY on a ferry in mid- VT and explore the Adirondacks before returning back to Albany area. Poor kids. That’s a lot of time to be sequestered in the back seat.

But we’ll probably be told how plush those accommodations are in a Dodge Journey in a future radius clue!

  10. I’m guessing the barn is pretty big. The live shot and video with jet ski look like different parts of the barn. Also, with this much secrecy they might want to store all vehicles and equipment inside since there was so much discussion about people renting planes or helos. You can hear the sliding barn door on a track when he comes in and out of the video, which is probably just another section of the barn. Just used efixtool on the third video and it had conflicting dates either May 11th or it was just shot yesterday at 1:28:42 in the afternoon. My guess is that some of the shots were done back in May, but because they had contingency plans, they just shot the barn with jet ski video yesterday and edited that portion in to prepare for the live game today. Editing was done on an Apple PC according to the metadata.

    • Just saw that, too. There goes my theory about a big barn. Unless…there are multiple barns on the property, stalls, separate tack barn, etc.

  11. My husband just reported that he went to a location and at the entrance there was a sign that said “sorry, no dodge here”. It was hand written on a white board. Hopefully they wouldn’t do that just to throw people off and it really is there… cause he left!

  12. Someone else just pointed out. In addition to the Captain’s hat, he had a VHF grade marine radio, blue flash light and gapper(sp)/duck tape.

  14. Added 400-mile clue with solution: Chestertown, NY (Friends Lake) – Looks like they’re not continuing along route 9 and Lake George to Ticonderoga. Rather, they should move farther north, then take 74 east towards Eagle Lake and to Ticonderoga (and VT).

  15. Understood, Jenni, but earlier in the post we were examining the possibility of a round trip based on the fact that the Journey is heading south back over the TK Bridge.

Circles could continually adjust and shrink throughout the trip, leading you back to the Albany area once inside 50 miles.

Conjectures are based primarily on the idea that the vehicle can travel 500 miles on a tank of gas (announced in the Mid-west search) and the TK Bridge anomaly.

It would put a fitting end to the entire contest if the final family made it home (perhaps to a nearby relative’s place) in a rural location.

Enough conjecture. Bring on the facts!
