375-mile clue

Solution: Schroon Lake, NY (Adirondack Marathon)

Note: We also see, on the bibs 87 (a reference to I-87 and 74, the road that runs east past Eagle Lake and to the Ti Ferry.

Apparently, this is the final online clue. The “final” clue is essentially the physical sign, already found.

25-mile radius? No.

Also, after the 375-mile clue is solved, we see:

Correction by Dodge on Twitter: When you solve the 5th clue vid it gets you within 375 miles of the Journey, not 25 as was written. More to come. Stay tuned.

Physical Clue, across Ti Ferry in VT

As reported earlier (bejones, 2:24pm), across the Ti Ferry into VT on 74, just before turning south on 73, a sign that reads:

This isnt the end
Its only the beginning
We cant wait to share
Where we went next
the journey is within 350 miles from here

Picture of the same (provide by Doreen Lyon, @jaredlyon’s Mom, on the hunt)

400-mile clue

Solution: Friends Lake, Chestertown, NY

425-mile clue

Solution: Lake George, NY (Queen of  American Lakes)

450-mile clue

Solution: Saratoga Springs, NY

500-mile clue

Solution: Albany, NY

Other clues:

Wild West Ranch, Lake George NY

Notes: Are the (missing) letters a clue?

Google street view to verify:

Eagle Lake, NY

Intersection – 74 and 73, across from Ferry, heading toward Mt Independence (south)

Google street view to verify:

From the other side, moving away from the ferry, approaching the intersection (note fish on pole):

Advanced clues (9/23, 10:00pm)

Picture #1 – Malta Drive In Theater, Malta, NY

Notes: The Dodge Journey is north bound (and the bikes are there, just blurred because of the Journey’s speed)

Could this be a reference to Paradox, NY? Paradox Lake? Conflicting directions as a Paradox? Pair of Docks?

Confirming shot:

And for direction (VT side, looking towards NY):

We sent 2 pics to various sites. If posted and you can find them, they won’t lead to the car, but they’ll get you started (9/23, 21:12)

Gather your search party and stock up on beef jerky. The East coast #JourneySearch begins tomorrow at 12PM EDT. YouTube.com/dodge

    • LOL Nick. Paradox is a def destination or pass through point … but they got to get to VT (I expect they’ll pass it and Eagle Lake on route). Cheers!

    • Right now, I’d say it looks pretty likely. I think they’re going to be resolving Eagle Lake soon (in fact, they gave us an eastbound shot with the first clue today) … then another beyond the ferry turning south towards mt independence.

  1. Dodge on Twitter: 4th clue is live. One more after this and then this search moves into the real world. <– What does that mean? Hope they don't shutdown everyone playing from home 😦 Or will they move the Journey outside? 😀

  2. Well as for my theory of heading back home, Green Mountain National Forest ( National Park consistant with past hiding spots) is basically back outside Albany on the Border of NY and VT…. Steven how many miles is it from Albany to Paradox to Independence Mountain then back to the very bottom of Green Mountain National Park? would that be to many miles?

  3. I’d love to get a report from anyone on location regarding this:

So we passed the intersection for 73 in VT right past the ferry off point. There was a sign on the side of the road from Dodge that said,

    “This isnt the End
    Its only the beginning
    We cant wait to share
    Where we went next
the journey is within 350 miles from here”

That would be the first I’ve heard for having a waypoint, physical clue. Movement into the real world?

  4. Dodge’s latest tweet says “…then this search moves into the real world.” Does that mean the remaining clues will be found on location only? Looks like they’re cutting out the online hunters.

  5. 1. I will preface this with saying I am actually one of the ones in Vermont. However 2. Can you imagine the pandemonium that will ensue if/when people drive to the Dodge/Journey intersection, NH or somewhere FAR east only to have the “round trip” theory pan out? Maybe it’s the nerd in me but I get the mental picture of the Lord in Braveheart/the Orcs in LOTR/ when they get that look of TOTAL shock when he realizes he advanced too deep into the “good guys” ranks and now they’re royally screwed to make a retreat lol. Yea can you tell I got 2.5 hours of sleep last night? Lastly (and more importantly) please please please take this for what it is, it could be completely unreliable. But I’m sitting in a coffee shop in Middlebury right now and there’s a bunch of college kids with me. One of the employees and I were shooting the breeze (me not telling him why I was there only that I was from out of town) then he offers up that there’s been a lot of tourists around this way looking for a car. He said he hopes the car is nearby cause around 4:30 this morning (when he was on his way in for his shift) a large caravan of a f-150 carrying a 30ish foot unmarked trailer flanked by two black durangos came through heading north on 7 and took the exit to 125 east. AGAIN, this could just be a college kid thinking he can get a laugh at my expense, but I thought I’d share this with the forum as imo we’re all in this together 😉

  7. “Real world” might not be as fun for the onlines, but it in a way would be a neat twist and a nice gesture to those on the road who migh not be as well-equipped or located to keep up with all the web traffic –

  8. Found a place east of albany and saratoga and it has old barns on site that they hold wedding receptions etc in. Planks on wall match up well as do the still old looking floors. Heading up now. 31 mins from my house.

  9. this seems like they obviously switched its location the other day and dont have commercials for the rest of the journey. so they are gonna release some clue photos and then post signs so people have to figure it out in the “real world”. it makes sense with their campaign, but i don’t think they originally intended for it to be like this.

    • I would tend to agree with you Bobby. This is first, and foremost, a marketing campaign. They want max exposure. If they cut off the online world … it would be unfortunate 😦

  10. The twitter photos they will post tonight just might indicate they really did go to a Plan B and are using the photos as somewhat impromptu additional clues…

  12. They are probably going to head east to Paradox, then to Ticonderoga, into VT, and where it’s been discussed for days. I think they are just trying to drag it out. However, in doing so, I am officially bored and have places to go and people to see so I’m outta here. Enjoy!

  13. Adirondack Marathon clues: the first runner’s sign on the seat with the duffel bag is number 87 and the second one is number 74 with “Lake George” below it.

  14. By last night I was convinced the location was Schroon Lake because, in looking at the the route clues, since directionality doesn’t seem to matter, the important thing is the routes themselves–and they intersect just above Schroon Lake.

  15. Yeah I think they just forgot to take out the 25 mile thing on the web cast they had already made previous to this… hahahahaha i think they just messed up maybe? but even still they could have changed it still since they made that little graphic saying that at the end

    • Seems like too massive of a leap —– from 375 to 25 miles.

      ?

Contradicts everything we say play out in West and Mid-west, especially OK where the entire radius was only 200 miles.

      Like

      • I agree David but I think they were trying to control pace by 1) release each clue on the hour vs unlocking as they’re solved; 2) keeping all options open with the (very) large radius. However, we still have a pretty predictable progression, from Schroon Lake, east along 74, past Eagle Lake, then to the Ti Ferry, into VT, and then to ?

  16. I think it is about 20 miles from Schroon Lake to Ticonderoga. Why the Vermont pictures if we aren’t going to Vermont? There is a highway 74 there in Vermont.

  17. HEY Steven…. Im starting to think the ferry at Fort Ticondaroga is the MB ranch sign to throw us off!!!!!!! Bet they never leave New York…. and they put a physical sign up over there to even throw us more cuz they knew everyone would be looking over there today because we all thought it was the “Final location”!!!!!

    Like

    • Nick … I liken it more to the Texola two-step than MB ranch (which was still in the correct direction of the primary route).

Still think we’re headed into VT.

      Like

    • Hi Nick. It’s possible but in addition to the welcome to VT shot we had, they gave us the turn south on 74 (after the ferry) to 73. So, we would have two clues pointing in the wrong direction … but, you can’t rule it out 😦

  18. “This isn’t the end, it’s only the beginning” is a pardoxical statement. We’ve seen “The Paradox” on the movie sign and we’re right next to Lake Paradox.

    Like

  19. On second thought – the road sign said 50 miles from that point and we have 25 miles from Schroon Lake – does that mean we will be going west? Someplace like Vanderwhacker Mountain Wild Forest?

    Like

  20. ok so Schroon Lake is where they run the marathon….. paradox lake is near there….. but also after you solve the 5th clue it says this is only the beginning….we can’t wait to show you where we go next…..So do ya’ll think the next clues will be in the twitter #journeysearch feed…. the did say on the chalkboard earlier that they would share photos of their trip tonight…..

    Like

    • Perhaps. We will probably see pictures along the route we already know (like the two advanced shots they gave us) then continue to add a few more that do not extend beyond where “on location” hunters are … probably going as far as the Ti Ferry (we already have that)

  21. Did anyone ever check out the Champlain Orchards? It is near the intersection of 73 & 74, has recently built a storage barn, and has a music festival going this weekend. The Dodge folks could be hiding in plain sight. (Only could….) In theory, this could be the spot.

    Like

    • If you look closely at the end of the “barn “is a counter with stools, a large crock, and mugs/glasses. Maybe its not a barn but a country bar or dance hall.
