375-mile clue

Solution: Schroon Lake, NY (Adirondack Marathon)

Note: We also see, on the bibs 87 (a reference to I-87 and 74, the road that runs east past Eagle Lake and to the Ti Ferry.

Apparently, this is the final online clue. The “final” clue is essentially the physical sign, already found.

25-mile radius? No.

Also, after the 375-mile clue is solved, we see:

Correction by Dodge on Twitter: When you solve the 5th clue vid it gets you within 375 miles of the Journey, not 25 as was written. More to come. Stay tuned.

Physical Clue, across Ti Ferry in VT

As reported earlier (bejones, 2:24pm), across the Ti Ferry into VT on 74, just before turning south on 73, a sign that reads:

This isnt the end
Its only the beginning
We cant wait to share
Where we went next
the journey is within 350 miles from here

Picture of the same (provide by Doreen Lyon, @jaredlyon’s Mom, on the hunt)

400-mile clue

Solution: Friends Lake, Chestertown, NY

425-mile clue

Solution: Lake George, NY (Queen of  American Lakes)

450-mile clue

Solution: Saratoga Springs, NY

500-mile clue

Solution: Albany, NY

Other clues:

Wild West Ranch, Lake George NY

Notes: Are the (missing) letters a clue?

Google street view to verify:

Eagle Lake, NY

Intersection – 74 and 73, across from Ferry, heading toward Mt Independence (south)

Google street view to verify:

From the other side, moving away from the ferry, approaching the intersection (note fish on pole):

Advanced clues (9/23, 10:00pm)

Picture #1 – Malta Drive In Theater, Malta, NY

>> Higher resolution version

Notes: The Dodge Journey is north bound (and the bikes are there, just blurred because of the Journey’s speed)

Could this be a reference to Paradox, NY? Paradox Lake? Conflicting directions as a Paradox? Pair of Docks?

Confirming shot:

Picture #2 – Ticonderoga Ferry

And for direction (VT side, looking towards NY):

  1. Steven what do you think of the Hoffman Notch Photo I posted? it kinda looks like the ridge that was behind the guy who took the bike off the top of the car….

  2. Just comment on this whole process….I am imagining a remake of the movie “it’s a mad, mad, mad, mad world” ..
Steven Barley, we need someone to play you in this movie….

  3. My uncle has checked every barn in Vermont , NO LUCK i AM SENDING HIM BACK TO Tic ferry. does anyone know when the last ferry crosses the lake back into NY

  4. Remaining or Residual Clues —

Dodge “guy” wearing a captain’s hat like this (Perhaps a reference to the Ti Ferry)
V VT: Either V? Vermont or 5 Vermont
Letters on Wild West Ranch sign
“The Paradox” – letters on Marta Drive-In sign

    What else am I missing?

    • It would be slick, but beyond their scope I think, if you could piece all together to form a clue – and perhaps, we’ll get a bit more as they release pics this evening 🙂

  5. So, Steven, do you believe, then, that it will indeed be found within a 25 mile radius of Schroon Lake?

How does this fit in with the “it’s only the beginning” claim, in your opinion?

Would seem like a major faux pas on their part if it was a mistake:

    faux pas – A SOCIAL blunder. 🙂

    • Hi David. Yes. They’ve been pretty consistent on that … they give us route (and don’t add too much with the radius clues) and we’ve been left no more than 20-miles from the final location (but that’s still a lot of ground to cover, esp in area like NY/VT) I think by stopping at 25-miles, they want to more fully engage the “boots on the ground” – a new beginning for them, new type of clues (physical), not online, in the real world

I’m hoping some of our community, who are on location, continue to send in updates. I’ve been in touch with about 20 or so, but they’ve gone quiet … and I fully understand why 😉

  6. could it be as easy as in the barn in the background where the Journey turns right on 73 the next dirt road brings you to the back of the barn which is near the water it just crossed on the Ferry……

    Like

  7. once they turn right off of 74 on to 73 the next road is a dirt road to the right which goes in behind a barn and the river they just crossed on the ferry and the mountains are in the background!!!!!

  9. Hey anyone look for horse ranches in Ticonderoga area???? I found a few… but hello… ya its gotta be on a Horse farm or Horse breeding/ boarding ranch, or some old historic one right?

    Like

    • It’s definitely past that because they get on the Ferry heading East on 74. Then they take a right onto 73…I believe the barn is in the background.

  10. I took a photo of the car at 1:30 and now looking at the ‘live’ at 5 PM, there is no change in the reflection in the headlight so I think that is interior lighting. The only change is the ‘windows on the bumper’ that are growing dimmer as night falls up there.
Also my guess is that it is a packing house for apples, etc and not a animal/hay barn unless it is a ‘museum exhibit’, just too clean. Hay is a distraction…maybe black box is more of a clue…

    • Ken, have him check the barn in the background where they turn off of 74 onto 73…please I actually turned around in front of Jones Energy thinking it was private property at 12:30pm last Saturday!! I guess you tell I’m a little aggrevated I didn’t take the chance of some crazy person telling me to get off there land!!:)

      Like

    • Ken, if he hasn’t already, have him check on 73 where it turns sharp left, just south of 74. I thought that farm was where it would be since Thursday, but I figured people would have been all over that area by now.

    • Hi Charles. It’s a reference to Dodge’s YouTube page, where you get the radius clues (watch a video, answer a question about location by dropping a pin or marker on the spot using a map) Cheers!

  11. wonder if they are talking about my brother. I sent him to the circle B ranch around 1pm Eastern time and the guy told him he hated Dodges…….After he left and was on to another horse place, I thought maybe the guy was trying to throw him off.

      • That would be a fitting, final location 😀 And North of Ticonderoga, along route 9, not east or west along 74 – but that means they gave us several shots related to VT as misdirection (video: VT side of ferry, video: 74/73 intersection, turning south; picture: on ferry, heading to VT) Regardless of the outcome, that’s a cool find.

      • I know, right! My first guess was Mount Independence State Historic Site, it follows the right turn on 73 after the ferry in Vermont and about 25 mi from Lake Shroon. My guess seems to be being blocked from the Dodge site too….interesting! And yes, I agree….there are no coincidences in life!

    • is anyone near the 73/74 intersection?? have you checked the farm in the background it looks out to the water and the mountains……check it!! I’m in Texas!!

    • There is a Journey’s End Farm in Ticonderoga… off 9N no less…

      1550 NYS Rt. 9N
      Ticonderoga, NY 12883

next to the Adirondack Park Preserve

but i’m calling them horrible horrible coincidences ;/

      • Jethro on NCIS says there’s no such thing as coincidences … but yeah, I would be bummed. They would have duped us with the 3 VT clues.

    • Do they have the balls to send people searching around for a random barn through the night? Technical errors… 375 miles not 25… 350 miles from 74/73…. This is getting out of hand 😉

      • I think the 25 v 375, change to the ground game is starting to confirm a plan b 😉 However, I do like them extending this (to tomorrow). It was kind of silly to see the Midwest clues last Sunday, during the games, when it had been found. However, for those in the physical hunt, they have to make plans for the night and be prepared for a new hunt tomorrow.

      • Yes, Steven, I think the videos all related to Plan A. What follows at 6:00 (and the sign on 74) begins Plan B. Boots, start hiking toward New Hampshire.

  14. For the record, it does say within 375 vs. within 25. Since the final video clue said the 26.2 miles (obviously a reference to a marathon), that still fits within those parameters. Also, Steven, you should start a hangout or huddle on G+ to keep up with this lol.

I’m not sure what to make of the times showing in the tweets on the youtube/dodge page. I’m thinking they must be Pacific time? Either way, this is what they just posted a bit ago.

  18. I’m looking forward to the slideshow.

Part of me is wondering if the “this isn’t the ending, this is only the beginning” paradox is actually referring to the ordering of the clues. Maybe that sign in Vermont was the beginning of the Journey’s trip en route to Albany (and as it traveled to Albany, went through the video clues in reverse order)?

That would be incredibly deceptive, but fit the paradox. It would also extend the search since a lot of people were already up in the Vermont area last night.

  19. Regarding the missing “C” – Adirondak Loj at Heart Lake? Check these driving directions out – Take the Adirondack Northway (I-87) to Exit 30. Turn left on Route 73 toward Keene and Lake Placid, continue on Route 73 for 26.5 miles. Turn left on Adirondack Loj Road (High Peaks Trailhead sign). It is five miles to the Loj. 26.5 miles referenced in the marathon clue. ??
