Physical Clues (in World Wide World)

Final location of the Dodge Journey (East):

16 Donut Point Ln.
Tenants Harbor, ME 04860

Final clue: Kenniston Realty in Rockland, ME

Message from phone call (paraphrased, courtesy of Spencer):

Good job, there will be no more clues.  You are within 15 miles of the Journey.

Main Street Prison Showroom -> Angeliques (Antiques) Thomaston, ME

(courtesy of Tobias)

Message from phone call (paraphrased, courtesy of Spencer):

Nice work. Be careful who share this number with. 99% of the people that are hoping to find the Journey, think they can find it from their easy chair. So, don’t undo all own your hard work.

The lands you will be traveling to will have many beautiful properties where you would like to park your Journey.  Look under the first rock.  One will stand out.  If you see it, give the owner a call.

Solution: Continue traveling north along Rte 1 to Rockland, ME and find Kenniston Realty.

Discussion: “The first (rock)” may be a reference to The First, a bank in Rockland along Rte 1, but before Kenniston Realty. This may have confirmed the direction. As this clue was paraphrased, it may have, in fact, been worded as “Look beyond the first rock.”

Red’s Eats at Wiscasset, ME -> Sign Store on Water Street for a clue in the window:

Message from phone call:

Nice work. First things first. Be careful who share this number with. 99% of the people that are hoping to find the Journey, think they can find it from their easy chair. So, don’t undo all own your hard work.

Blend in with the locals as you head north … check out some woodworking made by hard labor.

Or Better yet. We hear antiquing is huge around here, so why not do some window shopping. There’s one in particular that’s named after the owner whose name also rhymes with what she sells. In the window, you’ll find what you’re looking for.

Solution: Travel further north along RTE 1 to Thomaston, ME and Main Street Prison Showroom, then Angeliques (Antiques)

  1. Just a thought related to the FB pics. Although I’m puzzled why they would have taken two shots of the same landmark (CALL sign), they album could have just published prematurely, e.g. instead of loading a few more pictures, they pushed the wrong button. Hard to believe that Portland (inside a large city) would be the stopping point, while we hold for additional clues.

  2. Alright…I can’t win it anyways…got to go do some real stuff. This “follow” the pictures thing sucks. No challenge to those on the ground, just be first. Bleh. Good thing I’m in florida. Beautiful day outside.

  3. They obviously care not about those who have to make a return trip to NY or VT or anywhere else.

They have their own agenda now, and it is to approximate the 500 mile mark or reach the furthest point possible w/o crossing into Canadian territory.

Those who drop off this Trail of Tears are of no consequence to Dodge. They are after the larger internet audience (i.e., us) who outnumber the boots many fold.

This may well backfire on them, however.

    • I agree with you David. If on one hand, everyone knew well in advance that they would actually be traveling along a route, discovering it as it unfolds (vs figuring out clues and getting close to a final destination), then you could choose and plan accordingly. I do like the notion of really exploring the World Wide World (execution hasn’t be perfect though) and they are getting more mileage out of this one (it IS a marketing campaign) … but they are also missing the practical aspects for the boots on the ground. If this concludes around, let’s say 4 or 5pm tonight, it’s a long journey back (no pun intended).

  4. they show all the commercials on Sunday football and each week they say we left it right here…maybe it is 3 more hours away as this get’s them into the football time slot.

  5. Just a thought, mt desert in acadia is also where one of the hunts posted on twelve.org, accessible through steven’s site, is located, there is a $10,000 key somewhere on the mountain, not sure which hunt/book though.

  6. Just putting it out there……Acadia Nation Park has the “Wildwood Stables” which are some new white shinny barns which can be rented year round to those with animals. Its north…a national park….and a perfect spot to hide a new journey

  7. I still have the FB pics up that they posted prematurely. There are 44 pics, about the same as day 1. Last 2 pics are the Time and Temperature building in Portland ME. Steve has a good point: Why 2 pics, and why the middle of the biggest city in ME where there are no barns? Maybe they have a “staged” barn set up in a parking lot nearby? Acadia does sound like a good guess, but a long drive!

  8. My biggest fear is that all the “work” we did yesterday was absolutely for nothing and Dodge played out the NY/VT scenario just to appease people who came to the area. They gave them their search and used a slide show to bridge to a totally new game (new day, new clues) beginning with a 200 or 300 mile clue noonish beginning in ME. I hope I’m wrong.

  9. In the 450 and 425 mile clues you can see part of the barns trusses? reflected in the paint and windshield. I think it is an actual barn and not a set on a stage.

  10. Dodge is definitely punishing us for figuring out their East plan a week ahead of time and ruining all of the Ticonderoga commercials they were going to show. Plan B sux

    • To the folks who said Dodge punished us for figuring out the plan ahead of time…

Yup – exactly! They punished us but good.

I wasted an entire day and a couple tanks of gas driving all over the NY/VT ferry area… where the journey WOULD have been if the armchair sleuths didn’t figure out the final destination 5 days before the contest ended.

It was fun riding around wasting gas and trying to get a wifi signal strong enough to open these mile long websites and hidef videos… but… I am a little PO’ed that they moved the journey all the way to freakin eastern Maine!

I dunno if I should be thanking steve for keeping up with the journeys journey or mad at him for being a big part of the reason it ended up in far Eastern Maine instead of NY.

Here’s my pics from my limited search in VT/NY.

  11. It’s NOT at Bar Harbor…NOT at Arcadia….but I know where…let’s just say somewhere in between Bangor and Portland….just think logicially and you’ll figure it out
